Shade sails can have many different purposes. A few years ago, when a popular Hawke’s Bay road-side fruit stall was partially converted into a cosy cottage, the owners came to 0800 Sunshade for advice on how to create appropriate shelter and shade for the smaller sales area and privacy for the tenants.
Key objectives were threefold; to create protection for customers from the wet and cold southerlies; to keep the specially tree-ripened apples out of direct sunlight; and to provide privacy for the tenants living in the cottage. All these needed to be achieved in a way that blends into the rural environment.
The solutions were a vertical shade sail made from Rainbow Shade’s DriZ waterproof shade cloth to keep out the cold southerlies, a Llaza spring-arm awning which protects the freshly picked apples from the low winter sun as well as being fully closable at night, and a vertical shade sail fence made from Rainbow Shade's Z16 fabric in Olive Green to blend in with the rural environment and provide privacy for the cottage from the roadside.
